Antoni Clavé i Sanmartí (Barcelona, 1913 - France, 2005) was a Spanish painter, printmaker and sculptor.
A multidisciplinary artist, Antoni Clavé became one of the most relevant artists at the national level during the 20th century.
His pictorial and sculptural career was recognised internationally since the 1970s, being elected as the Spanish representative at the 1984 Venice Biennale; the National Museum of Modern Art in Paris dedicated a retrospective to him in 1978, the Generalitat of Catalonia awarded him its Gold Medal, he received the National Engraving Prize and the UNESCO Prize for the same technique. His works are kept in prominent institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the MACBA in Barcelona, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid), the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Patio Herreriano de Valladolid, the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris, the National Museum of Art in Osaka or the Tate Britain in London.
